It has everything you need for the microcontroller to operate. To get started you need to connect the Arduino Mega 2560 only via USB cable to a computer or connect it to an AC-to-DC power supply or a battery. The Mega 2560 is different from all previous Arduino boards is that it does not use an extra FTDI USB-to-serial driver chip, but a programmed as a USB-to-Serial Converter ATmega16U2 .
