Humulin N Kwikpen

Indication
Humulin N is used to treat people with diabetes for the control of high blood sugar.

Important Considerations for Use for Humulin R U-100, Humulin N, and Humulin 70/30:

Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) is the most common side effect of insulin, including Lilly Humulin insulins. Signs of severe hypoglycemia can include: disorientation, unconsciousness, seizures, or death.
Humulin KwikPens must never be shared, even if the needle is changed. If you use Humulin vials, you must never share needles or syringes with another person. Sharing poses a risk that you may give someone a serious infection or get a serious infection from them.
Any change of insulin should be made cautiously and only under medical supervision.
Changes in strength, manufacturer, type (eg, regular, NPH, analog), species, or method of manufacture may result in the need for a change in dosage.
Some patients taking Humulin may require a change in dosage from that used with other insulins. If an adjustment is needed, it may occur with the first dose or during the first several weeks or months.
High blood sugar (hyperglycemia) may develop if the body has too little insulin. In people with type 1 or insulin-dependent diabetes, prolonged hyperglycemia can result in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). DKA is a life-threatening emergency.
Always check the carton and bottle label for the name and letter designation of the insulin received from the pharmacy to make sure it's the correct insulin.
Do not use any other insulin except on your healthcare provider's advice and direction.
Do not use Humulin after the expiration date stamped on the label or if it has been frozen.
Do not share needles or syringes, because you may give or get an infection.
Before using Lilly Humulin insulin, tell your healthcare providers about all of your medical conditions, including liver, kidney, or heart problems, if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, and about all the medicines you take including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
Serious side effects can include heart failure when taking certain pills called thiazolidinediones or with Lilly Humulin insulin. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any new or worse symptoms of heart failure, such as shortness of breath, swelling of your ankles or feet, or sudden weight gain.
