Neuronox is a Botulinum toxin type A complex purified from Clostridium botulinum, manufactured by Medy-Tox in Korea.
Its dosage form is injectable and its appearance is a white lyophilized cake.
1 vial of Neuronox contains 100 units of botulinum toxin (type A), 0.5 mg of human serum albumin, and 0.9 mg of NaCl.

Botulinum toxins including Neuronox blocks neuromuscular transmission binding to acceptor sites on motor nerve terminals, entering the nerve terminals, and inhibiting the release of acetylcholine. This inhibition occurs as the neurotoxin cleaves SNAP-25, a protein integral to the successful docking and release of acetylcholine from vesicles situated within nerve endings.

When injected intramuscularly at therapeutic doses, Neuronox produces partial chemical denervation of the muscle resulting in a localized reduction in muscle activity.

Mainly used in Anti-wrinkle cosmetics worldwide, botulinum toxin type A drugs have been used for various indications such as hemifascial spasm, blepharospam and cervical dystonia
