The sensor in clip converts the mechanical vibration which the sensor received at its location into electric signal. The magnitude of the eletric signal is proportional to the acceleration of the mechanical vibration. The eletric signal is amplified by the amplifier in the control box, so operator can hear the vibration response (headphone sound) of the mechanical part under test via the headphones.
