Mould flux is a sort of auxiliary material for steelmaking. Mold flux is composed of three sections. The first section is primary slagging material, such as SiO2a AL2O3a CaO; The second section is special material used to regulating melting point and viscosity of slags, such as Na2Oa Li2Oa Fa MgO; The third section is carbon particles like T and C used to adjusting melting rate. These three parts of materials can be formed mold flux with the sequential process of crushing, grinding, mixing.

Mold flux application
Mold flux has major influence on the quality of continuous casting slab and yield of caster. Therefore, mold flux is the important guarantee of smoothly continuous casting production and high-quality casting slab. The main applications of mold flux are: thermal insulation, avoiding mold level ridging; air-isolating, preventing reoxidation of molten steel; getting rid of inclusions in steel; lubricating casting slab; filling air-gap between mold and casting slab, improving effects of heat transfer.
