NEVIMUNE 200 mg contains nevirapine as the active ingredient in its composition. It is used in combination with other antiretroviral drugs for suppressing the HIV virus and preventing it from further infecting the immune system cells in the body. Classified as a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), this medicine blocks the activity of the reverse transcriptase (RT) viral enzyme. It binds itself to a part of the enzyme called the NNRTI pocket which interferes with the enzyme`s ability to multiply viral DNA material and hence reducing down the spread of the virus.
