Tents, even the best ones, are not 100% waterproof and will eventually let in water if it rains sufficiently. This can be reduced with proper tent setup. Tents' waterproof ratings range from 1000 millimeters (the very minimum) to 10,000 millimeters (the maximum). It's a good rule of thumb that a higher number means a tent is more watertight.
