Make sure you take a comfortable, slack measurement around your largest bust. Take this number and deduct the width of the band. use this number to find yours. If your ribcage measures 31, and your bust measures 37, your bra size is 34C (31+3=34, hence 34 is the band size). If you want an exact fit, you should take your measurements while actually wearing the bra you plan on wearing under the top. A sports bra is not appropriate here; a "lingerie" bra is more appropriate. Measure around the broadest area of the breast, but don't be too precise. Take this number and deduct the size of the band.
