This is a rather interesting question. In reality, mushrooms are a fungal growth. So, it is a fungus. Therefore, based on this logic, it maybe be said that mushrooms are non veg, however on the other hand, mushrooms only grow on decaying matter, and do not have any blood or beating heart in them. Thus, it can be assumed to be a plant and thus, it forms a vegetarian dish. In most of the places, mushrooms are categorised in vegetarian section, however strict vegetarians refrain from mushroom consumption as well.
