The process includes: Wire drawing: AWG compliant metal wires must be procured for the wire drawing. The copper or aluminium rod is passed through a series of artificial diamond dies on the draw bench that progressively become smaller in size. And to do this, a cooling and lubrication system that prolongs the life of the dies and prevents overheating of the wire is used. Annealing: During the drawing process, the metal rod is subjected to extreme pressure in order to produce a thinner wire. When flexed, the wire becomes very brittle and easily fractures.
