Q. Which material is used for surgical pad?
Answer
Plasters, gauze, lint, bandages (natural or synthetic) and cotton wool are examples of dry traditional wound dressing items used as main or secondary dressings to prevent contamination of the wound. Surgical gauze is used alone or in combination with tissue paper, absorbent cotton, and other materials to create a wide variety of pads, compresses, and dressings. Folded absorbent gauze is known as filmated gauze, and it features a thin, uniform film of cotton or rayon dispersed over each layer. This filmation puffs up and provides plenty of dressing volume, but at a lower price than gauze alone would have provided. It absorbs liquids rapidly and has a remarkably smooth texture.
