Key Features
600 RPM mild steel traction motor is similar to the ac motors, except that they use a solid state charger/rectifier instead of a generator. This provides lower dc voltages to the field and drive out at much higher speeds than the main motor. Traction motors are used on vehicles and machines such as forklifts, maglev trains, monorails, conveyors or excavators where they must provide both incredible power and torque while simultaneously allowing precise control. They can typically operate continuously at 85% of their rated load without the need for cool-down time. These motors achieve this by using ventilated frames which allow air to flow within the motor, promoting cooling. Being wound with copper windings instead of aluminum also increases cooling efficiency.
