Burst strength development occurs over a broad pH range (4 to 8) with the highest levels realized under acidic conditions. Higher pH conditions should be avoided as resin performance will decline appreciably due to chemical degradation. Post curing of the paper is not necessary since the wet strength development is essentially complete at the reel. ASCENT AMPROTIC DSR is also an effective dry and wet strength additive. Wet end addition of ASCENT AMPROTIC DSR has demonstrated its ability to improve such key physical properties as fold, burst tensile internal bond and ZDT in a wide variety of grades and furnishes.
