Chromite Sand is an oxide of Iron and chromium,Chromite Sand has a chemical composition FeOCr2O3. However, Chromite Sand conforming to theoretical composition is rarely found in the nature. Iron is found replaced by magnesium and similarly chromium by ferric iron and aluminum, thus bringing the composition of the naturally occurring Chromite corresponding to (Fe Mg)O (Al Fe Cr)2O3. it is this replacement that improves the Fe : Cr ratio in Chromite.
