Air Release Valve is designed to minimize turbulence and air blockage in drip systems, mini sprinklers, or other systems that use small diameter lateral pipes for water supply. The valve automatically releases entrapped air from irrigation pipelines preventing irrigation system damage or poor performance caused by air build-up. It also minimizes vortexing and reduces noise in the system. The rugged, impact-resistant plastic body is compatible with any standard 1/2 in. threaded screw type riser pipe, reducing installation time and making it easy to replace existing valves. The spring-loaded plunger moves vertically allowing water to bypass the valve during normal operation. When the system fills with water, accumulated air lifts the plunger off its seat allowing air to escape at atmospheric pressure through specially designed slits in the plunger stem and body. Excess pressure differential over the valve's built-in full opening setting will force compressed water up through the same slits flushing away sediment or foreign particles from the valve seating area and extending valve life.
