When a high temperature gas is passed through a collector ie., Bag Filter or Electrostatic Precipitator it is very much necessary to reduce the temperature of the dust where FD cooler is provided before the collector landen gas.

In this coolers the hot gas is passed over the capsules and cold ambient air is passed through the capsules with the help of series of axial flow fans. The advantage of having axial flow fans is that whenever required, desired, couple of fans can be shut off as required thereby saving energy.
