Omeprazole and Domperidone Capsules (IP) is an antacid medication that is used to treat heartburn and acid indigestion. It is also used to treat nausea, stomach pain and certain gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). These capsules are also used as an antidiarrheal medicine. Omeprazole belongs to the group of medicines called H2 blockers. It works by blocking the action of a hormone produced by the liver called histamine which causes you to have heartburn. Domperidone belongs to the group of medicines called H3 receptor antagonists. It blocks the receptors on the stomach lining that histamine binds to causing your stomach to empty more quickly. Domperidone can cause very strong side effects such as hives, rash, itching, throat or mouth irritation, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat. The side effects are likely at a dose greater than 200mg daily.
