Pressure Release Device

The Pressure Release Device has been designed (as is evident from its name) to release accumulation of abnormal excessive gas / vapour pressure inside the Oil filled Instrument Transformer. The device is operated by the gas pressure against a spring, which opens the valve at a preset pressure.

The Oil filled Instrument Transformer has to be Hermetic sealed as per the specifications of nearly all Power distributing companies. This ensures that the atmospheric elements do not come in direct contact with the oil used, preventing deterioration of oil and its BDV (Break Down Value).

Now if an Inert gas is filled in the space above the oil and maintained at a slightly higher pressure above the atmospheric, this ensures that the gas filled space does not have any Oxygen to support combustion and makes the Transformer operation, Fire Safe.

Material of Manufacture Extruded Brass, Polypropylene, Stainless steel and Nitrile Rubber.
Gas to be filled and maintained at 5 psi
Preset Relief Pressures PRD opens slightly at 12.5 psi, full open at 15.0 psi closes back at 10.0 psi.
Dimensions Height - 45 mm, Hex - 15 mm, Thread size M12 for fitment.
