PTFE 1 is polytetrafluoroethylene which is used for back up rings, chevron packings, O-rings, rotary seals and gaskets. This is a material with the widest technical range of applications. Only molten alkali metals and gaseous fluorine will attack PTFE at high Temperature and pressures. Creeping is observed at relatively low loads. PTFE 2 is polytetrafluoroethylene with fillers which is used for Low function sea's- thrust collars and bearing rings for chevron packings and guide rings. As a result of the special fillers, PTFE 2 achieves high firmness values at low creep when compared to pure PTFE. Almost unlimited chemical resistance as above.
