Light Yellow Rich Aromatic Pure Natural Organic Asafoetida / Hing

Asafoetida, commonly known as hing spice, is a gum resin treasured as a spice in India and Iran. It is used to flavor curries, meatballs, and pickles. Because of its organic sulphur components, it has an acrid taste and a pungent onionlike odour. The resin of huge fennel plants that grow wild in Afghanistan and Iran is used to make hing. Although the resin can be kept pure, it is most commonly ground to a powder and blended with wheat in the United States. Hing is used in Ayurvedic medicine to help with digestion and gas, as well as bronchitis and kidney stones. Some people wrapped dried gum around their necks to help ward off infection and sickness throughout the Middle Ages.
