Cohesive rural energy access programs to extend renewable energy to rural communities are much needed for providing energy security in the rural remote villages and help in achieving measurable improvements in addressing the poverty environment nexus. Sustainable human development can be achieved by building local capacity within communities to set up, operate, repair and maintain renewable energy systems to meet local needs.

Realizing the above, DevGreen emphasizes developing community based innovative and decentralized approaches to energy security and poverty eradication by harnessing the potential of renewable energy in India. DevGreen focuses on developing and implementing innovative, affordable, and sustainable rural energy delivery models, which integrate small productive applications and livelihood activities with gender as focus. The emphasis is also on promoting improved cook stoves.
