Conventional General purpose Grease used for valve lubrication is soluble in produced well fluids ( i.e. Oil/Gas and Condensate) and gets washed out in few valve operations, and most of the time Valve - Gate and Seat are dry rubbing against each other causing abrasion on metal surfaces leading to valve leakage. Also, the well debris get deposited in Valve cavity and on spindle threads making it hard to operate.
This Valve leaking problem can be solved to a great extent simply by changing the 'General purpose Grease' to 'Hydrocarbon Resistant Lubricant'.
