Cholesterol Diet ServicesDIABETES LOW FAT LOW CHOLESTEROL             Foods to BE Taken Liberally LIMITED QUANTITIES 1.       Cereals like Wheat flour, Rice and their products pulses/grain should be taken as advised. 2.       Skimmed milk should be preferred including that needed in curd, paneer and other beverages. 3.       Fruits like guava, orange, Papaya, watermelon, Apple and sweet lime-100-200 gm/day. Almond rich in MUFA and walnuts rich in omega-3 fatty acids can be used.(3-4 pcs/day) 4.       Wherever Feasible have your fruit with the peel. 5.       Fenugreek seeds and guar gum (10g) on daily basis help to manage diabetes. FOOD TO BE AVOIDED 1.       Sugar, Honey, Jam, Jaggery, Glucose and Sweets like Ladoo, Burfi, Kheer, Pudding, Dessert and Ice Cream. 2.       Bakery products like cakes, pastries made in saturated fats (butter) ice cream etc. 3.       Pickles made in oil. 4.       Saturated and Trans fat like Butter, ghee, vanaspati, coconut oil etc. 5.       Fried food e.g. chips, Pappad, Samosa, puri, Patties etc. 6.       Canned,tinned,preserved foods like tinned fruits, sauces etc to be Avoided FOODS RECOMMENDED 1.       High Fiber food items like green leafy vegetables and green salads should be an essential daily item. 2.       Inclusion of wheat flour with black Chana flour or barley flour in the Ratio of 4:1 is advisable. 3.       Whole grain like Bajra, jawar, brown rice, oat meal and whole pulses are preferable to polished ones, may be included in at least one meal, in sprouted or cooked from.
